Robotics and Coding

Our Robotics program is based on Lego Education WeDo 2.0 (for age 6 to 8 y.o) and Spike Prime (age 9+) sets. We use WeDo 2.0 software and Scratch coding.

Every year we participate in First Lego League exhibition and competition! Come and join our team!

Science for Preschoolers

Our pre-schoolers do not learn science, they play in science! We make experiments, draw, cut, sink and weight various items. We create volcanoes and deserts, swim in oceans and build bridges.

And the most important,  we develop excitement, imagination and curiosity!

Hi, my name is Svetlana and I am the owner of the Kids Science Club! I have two beautiful daughters, Maria and Katherine, and for almost ten years they have been my greatest inspiration and motivation!
In my previous life I used to work as an engineer in one of the big engineering consultancies in Melbourne. Like every other parent with children, I was juggling parenthood with part-time job in the city, sometimes feeling guilty I am not giving enough time or attention to my children. Every time I saw a book title like "Kindergarten is too late" I started panicking and searching for a new activity for kids.
My oldest daughter started showing interest in science and Lego from the very early age. At the age of four she would prefer a children encyclopedia being read as a bedtime story, instead of the "Red riding hood".
I started looking around my area for any science related activities for young children and could only find ballet schools and art classes. Of cause I enrolled her into ballet school and the art class altogether, but science... I had to start making experiments by myself.
It was a bit expensive: buying equipment and various supplies we would use only once, but well... i felt I didn't really have a choice. And cleaning the house after experiments, that was the greatest fun of all!
By the time she was four I found her a great school with science curriculum. I was so happy I could focus on my job while girls were at school and kinder learning about science (and lots of other things). Winning!
Unfortunately, it was a year when companies started sending a lot of engineering jobs offshore. I was made redundant. Moreover, the school decided to scrap the science program! After a few sleepless nights I decided that it was a sign from the above! I have to do something about children's science education!
As I never worked with children before I wanted to study first. I completed a certificate in early childhood education and worked in the child care for a few month to gain some experience. In October 2017 I was ready to open the doors and welcome my first little scientists to the preschool science classes!
The club has grown over the years. My girls has grown up and even help me with the junior classes sometimes. And you know what? Even if my children grow up and choose profession completely unrelated to science and robotics, I am glad I had a chance to give them that experience and a feel of the real science.
Future is a mystery but the knowledge and experiences we give children now will more likely stay with them forever. At least I don't panic any more looking at the various parental books titles knowing I did my best in offering my children various activities. Maybe I have grown up with them as well???
